Freshman guard leads all honorees in scoring this season
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest freshman guard C.J. Harris has been named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Harris, who has yet to declare a major in his first year on campus, is one of 12 student-athletes on the team.
Harris has started 20 games for the Deacons this season and ranks third on the team with 9.8 points per game. The Winston-Salem native is a four-time ACC Rookie of the Week honoree.
Harris is the leading scorer among this year’s All-ACC Academic team honorees.
Harris is the seventh freshman in Wake Forest history to be named to the All-ACC Academic Team since the award’s inception in 1963. He joins Jerry Montgomery (1968-69), Tom Wise (1987-88), Broderick Hicks (1998-99), Chris Paul (2003-04), Kyle Visser (2003-04) and Gary Clark (2007-08) on the list.
Overall, Harris is the 19th Demon Deacon to be named to the team.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
