HiToms Blanked in Edenton

EDENTON, NC- Steamers starter Kevin McCarthy tossed six shutout innings to earn the victory, a 1-0 win over the Hitoms Monday night at Historic Hicks Field.

McCarthy allowed two hits and issued two walks while striking out one HiTom in his first start of the season. The Tommies were held hitless over the final three innings by three different Edenton relievers. Jordan Engan earned the save, his second of the season.

A Spencer Branigan solo home run in the 7th inning off HiToms starter Mike Suk proved to be the game’s only offense. Suk threw all eight innings for the Tommies, and only allowed four hits while striking out six.

The Tommies return to action against the Generals Tuesday night in Petersburg, with the first pitch set for 7 PM. Follow the action live with the WebPass on the Coastal Plain League’s home website.
