HiToms Win in Forest City

FOREST CITY, NC- The HiToms left McNair Field with an 8-4 victory over the Forest City Owls Thursday night.

The Tommies jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, scoring five runs in the 3rd inning on three hits and three Forest City fielding errors. Justin Roland plated a run with an RBI infield single followed by a DJ Long two-RBI single.

The HiToms added two runs in the 6th inning and another run in the 7th to make it an 8-1 game.

Kyle Keller (W, 2-1) turned in a solid start for the Tommies, allowing only one run over 5.2 innings on four hits and three walks. Keller also fanned four Owls. Robbie McIntosh earned his first save of the season, tossing the final 3.1 innings. McIntosh’s only hiccup came via a three-run homer to Alex Close in the 7th inning.  

The HiToms return to Finch Field to host the Florence RedWolves Friday night at 7 PM. Follow the action live on the CPL WebPass.

The Thomasville HiToms are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 16th season in 2012, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
