AT&T National Diving Championships: Leydon-Mahoney, Stanley take first in women’s 3-meter, men’s 10-meter semifinal rounds
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Gracia Leydon-Mahoney (Newton, Mass.) and Toby Stanley (Conway, Ark.) finished atop the women’s 3-meter and men’s 10-meter semifinal standings Thursday to advance into the finals as the top qualifiers at the AT&T National Diving Championships.
Stanley finished with 481.35 points in the men’s 10-meter semifinals, more than 40 points ahead of second-place finisher Steele Johnson (Carmel, Ind.), who scored 440.10. Logan Shinholser (Burtonsville, Md.) qualified third at 429.35.
Leydon-Mahoney, who last week won a junior national title on 1-meter, qualified first with 312.10 points in the 3-meter semifinal. Samantha Pickens (Murrysville, Pa.) took second at 304.30, and Cheyenne Cousineau (Temperance, Mich.) was third at 288.80.
The top 12 divers from the semifinals advance to the finals, which are set for Sunday. Competition at the AT&T Nationals continues Friday with preliminaries in all four synchronized diving events.
