October 29, 2012 – Bobcats Sports & Entertainment President & COO Fred Whitfield today announced the organization’s plans to “Paint The Town,” presented by Wells Fargo, leading up to the season opener on Friday, November 2, when the team hosts the Indiana Pacers at 7:00 p.m. Bobcats players, Rufus, the Lady Cats and other team representatives will make appearances at locations throughout the Charlotte area this week in celebration of the start of the 2012-13 season.
The week’s festivities begin on Tuesday, October 30 with the “Big is Back” NBA Tipoff Party hosted by Power 98’s DJ Incognito at Hickory Tavern in the Metropolitan at 7:30 p.m. Bobcats rookies Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Jeffery Taylor will be in attendance to sign autographs and take photos at the event, which also includes giveaways, food and drink specials and televisions airing the NBA’s season-opening Celtics-Heat game on TNT.
Later in the week, Rufus and the Lady Cats will be visiting several Wells Fargo branches and LYNX light rail stations with Bobcats giveaways, including the Charlotte Transportation Center station on Thursday afternoon and the 3rd Street/Convention Center station on Friday morning.
On Friday afternoon, the EpiCentre will host a Pregame Party that includes live broadcasts from Power 98 from 12:00-3:00 p.m. and Kiss 95.1 from 3:00-6:00 p.m., as well as ticket and souvenir giveaways and games.
Beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, the Trade Street Plaza at Time Warner Cable Arena will feature a beer garden with a band and tailgating games, while the Center City Green across Fifth Street will host a gaming truck, sport court with hoop and inflatable games for kids.
The first 10,000 fans to enter Time Warner Cable Arena for Friday’s opener will receive a Bobcats Tougher Faster Stronger long sleeve T-shirt presented by Lowe’s, while all fans will receive 50% off concessions items (excluding liquor). In addition, the first 100 fans to spend at least $150 in the re-opened Team Store will receive a free pair of Jordan Brand shoes.
